iNitially, i read that only 2 undersea cables snapped in the earthquake…..
aFter several days of agonizingly slow connection, i found out that the damage was worse….. tO add gas to the fire, one of the ships despatched to repair the optical fibre cables had a mal-function and was reaquired to dock for repairs……
tOday…..
oNline info states that repairs on one group of cables had been completed yesterday…
aNd the rest of the repairs should finish by 20th…..

aDdiction……
jUst the other day i was chatting with a friend on MSN. sEeing that she’s now a subscriber to sTreamyx, i tried to influence her into joining the darkside introduce her to the wonders of online gaming.
sHe mentioned she wasn’t ready to be an addict. wHich got me thinking about how i got into the game in the first place….
iT’s very true what everyone (namely: your teachers, the media, and other gamers) say, online gaming is indeed an addiction. oNce you’ve have a taste of it, you’ll crave for more……
bEfore it all began , i was still jamming my fingers away on my Playstation/Ps2. tHose were the days i’d spend hours in my room, in front off my TV set, button meshing, just so that i could get all the costumes for D.O.A. or trying to get all the ultimate weapons for Final Fantasy X.
lIfe was simple. gAmes had endings. nO additional worries (sTreamyx acting like a b**ch/ lightning storms/ server downs…). jUst plain-o’ TV+console+unbelievable attention span+attractive main characters type of gaming.
bAck then i was actually quite against online gaming, due to my past experience with one on my 56K dail-up. tHe game itself took 3 whole days to download, the graphics were worse than Diablo II, and the lag was horrible….
i Deleted it right after i tried it….
iT wasn’t until years later in college when Rita’s cousin influenced me into playing Dragon Raja. tHat, was at the very dawn of sTreamyx. mAny friends, rivals and enemies were made, and at the end of it, we’ve reached very high levels and our guild was well-known enough to have other guilds come for us….. tHose were the days.
mY addiction brought me into several other games like Game Myth, RYL, RO, Seal Online, Gunbound, Lineage II, RFonline, and others i can’t even remember the names.
aNd now i’m in Mabinogi, a Taiwanese game, with a Korean origin…. addicted to it’s freedom in the course of skills and character stats.
mY addiction had become more than just a drug-like high, but a manner of releasing stress after a hard day at work.
wIth the internet connection to foreign servers down to a mere 70%, lags were inevitable. wHich in turn meant that training and fulfilling quests were impossible. i Can feel my sanity slowly slipping as i gaze upon whatever information i can gasp online about the recovery progress of the undersea cables…….
oH! tHe agony……..

aM i lOoking bAck aT 2006?
iT’s 2007. aNd if you’ve noticed, everyone’s either blogging about their reviews of 2006 or about their new year’s resolution. nOthing new there, everyone’s been doing it ever since writing was invented….
i Guess i won’t be starting on any new year resolutions this year. tO me, that idea only means some essay title that the teacher would give us at I.T.S….. tHough i Did do my share of it last year. aNd looking back i could only say that i haven’t really achieved any of them……
sO, wHat did 2006 mean to me….
2006 was my first year without my faithful pal…. tHe one and only friend that had accompanied me through my lonely times at home since 1992. Fify (or Fifi, argueable), the family Shih Tzu passed-on….. i Still miss her….
iT was the first year Rita and i actually went to a fancy restaurant for a 5 course meal to celebrate Valentine’s day. Magenta was the place. i Wanted to post something about my experience there but never really got around to writing it…..
iT was the year i found out that my Nissan Sunny couldn’t drift as well as a Treno AE86…
iT was the year i found out i looked like a hippo in a swimming trunk. wEnt to Damai Lagoon with a bunch of friends…..took a photo by the pool….found out that it was a big mistake later…..
iT was the year i dropped my dream of getting a PSP and opt for the Nintendo DS. i bought it just so i could play the remake of Final Fantasy III. aNd you know what? i Love every moment i spend touching it……er……playing it……..
iT was the year i celebrated my birthday at the Kuching Fest Food Fair with a few of my closest friends. (or what we call recently….our circle)
iT was the year a certain French footballer decided to head-butt another player of the opposite team during the Final game of the World Cup! tHat which he was sent off the field, and so they say, cost them the game…..and the cup….. fOrget what they say, Zidane hast earned my respect!!!!
iT was the year 13 innocent dogs where shot dead in a residential area by the ‘Authorities’ for doing nothing more than being alive…..
iT was the year i spent almost a week in Bintulu with Rita’s whole family. tHe brother was on holiday back from Russia, with the girlfriend, and the father kept asking me to go…..iT was a nice experience.
iT was the year the ‘Crikey!’-saying Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin got killed by a stingray while filming…..
tHe year Animax became a channel on Astro!
tHe year Rita and i decided to buy our dream phone! bUying it set me back quite a bit on my target amount, but it was really worth it. hOlding my w810i in my hands still gives me goosebumps. X3
iT was the year i finally got Final Fantasy III for the NDS, three months after the actual release date… tHe amazement i had watching the opening FMV nearly gave me an orgasm…
iT was the year i had the chance to experience something Solid Snake did….
iT was the year Christmas came and went in a low profile…… nO one really noticed that it was here until it was over….. strange……
iT was execatly 2 years after the Tsunami tragedy and another undersea earthquake off the shores of Taiwan caused damage to 6 undersea Optical Fiber Cables, rendering most areas of South East Asia Connection-less…. bY that, i mean we could not connect to foreign servers…… oR make calls overseas…. tHe problem is in the still in the process of being solved, and connection has been revived to 70%….so they say anyways….. tHough it will take until the middle to end of January 2007/begining of February to get every cable up and going….. hEnce a whole month without Mabinogi……
gUess that’s about everything worth mentioning about my 2006…..
aLl i can do now is hope and pray for a better year in 2007.
aNyways….
