Daily Mockery
rEmember how teachers and adults used to tell us that doing something at the last minute is bad?
iF that’s really the Morale of Life, why is it that everyone does their freaking shopping at the last minute every Chinese New Year?!?!

aLas fOr tIs a dAy of lAbour…….
14 February, it’s Saint Valentine’s feast again. a Day when all the teenagers get restless and excited. hOping and expecting to receive flowers or chocolate or some stuffed-animal from a special someone……
iT’s the day Saint Valentine is remembered
iT’s the day lovers go wild.
iT’s the day flourists everywhere get to earn a Big Bunch.
iT’s the day heavily packaged and commerciallized…..
(cos if you don’t give someone flowers, you’re just plain lonely….so the media says….)
iT’s
Valentine’s day.
eVery year this time comes around, prices for Roses double, or evenm tripple! aNd people still buy them as effortlessly as buying toilet paper……
iT’s also become a norm, or rather, an obligation for couples everywhere to celebrate this day one way or another….. eVenthough, many do not know why….. dOn’t ask me, i haven’t the slightess idea either……
lAst year, i took a half-day off, and went to a fancy restaurant with Rita to celebrate this day. wE’re not usually suckers for commerciallized holidays like this, but it gave us a reason to get up and actually go on a date to dine at an upper-class restaurant, namely, Magenta. aNd i must say, the food and experience was worth the cost.
tHis year, we had it all planned out to do something somewhat similar. tHat was until the stupid NS people sent my office an invitation to join their career night…..
IDIOTS!!!!
wHich means now i’d have to spend my Valentine’s day handing out brochures to a bunch of kids, who don’t even give a pig’s arse about what they’re going to do, at a place far from the city……
tHe Cosworld crew are also having a cosplay+sales even over at Waterfront. i’M so tempted to go….. bUt, alas………
oH well, we’re lucky that our anniversary is next month. sO i guess we will be postponding the plans till then…..

sOmetimes you’ll miss certain people so much, you’d give almost anything to see them again.
iT is only until you’ve finally see them again that you remember why you’ve been avoiding them in the first place…..

Chinese New Year is just around the corner….. wEll, i guess a lot of blogs are starting with this line lately….. aNyway, as predicted, all the shops have filled up with swarms of people, rendering most places approachable…..
nEvertheless, i’ve finally finished all my new year’s clothing runs. aNd i must say, to finish it in 2 runs is actually not half bad, compared to last year, that is……
tHis year, as always (almost), i’ve managed to obtain 3 sets of clothing just for the festival. aT the begining of everything, i did a review of what kind of clothes i bought during the previous Chinese New Year Gold Rush(es). i Peered into my wardrobe and noticed that it’s mostly filled with formal shirts…….
wHat have i been thinking……
sO this year, i decided to go back to my rule for buying clothes……
tO buy clothes that look somewhat more different from conventional main-stream clothing…..
tHus begin the 2-day pilgrimage to obtain the Holy-Grail of clothes…….
hAving a rough mental picture of what i wanted to look like this year really helped a lot in choosing. mY first stop was the Everise block in 4th mile, as i knew from past experience that there’s quite a variety of clothing sold there. oUr plan to make an early start was a right one, as the place was filled to the brim by the time we left….nearly 2 hours after we arrived. i Managed to procure 3 sets of clothing from the Everise branch here and another random shop outside. i Was still missing a crusial part of the picture though….a pair of pants…..
tHen came yesterday’s (Wednesday) trip to Kenyalang. tHis time the ‘early-bird’ plan didn’t work as well. uPon arriving, all i could say is, the place looked like a warzone…..
tHere were cars parked EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE! cArs by the road, cars by the houses, cars on road dividers, cars in 2 parking spaces, cars on padestrian walks, hEck even cars behind cars! tHe funny thing was, when we finally found a parking space and got out of the car nearly an hour of spinning around later, we noticed that there weren’t as many people! WTF!? kUching people are really Richer ah! 干 (say it with me: KAN!)!
aNyway, after browsing about in one of the random clothing stores, Rita finally bought her final set of clothing, and a pair of Boots (under my influence). a Bold move, but i stand by my advice cause i really thinks she looks good in them. tHen it was my turn to seek out my missing link. i Had my eyes of jeans with dangly-stripes, and coincidentially, this shop sold them as well. aFter browsing through all the types and colours they have i finally found a pair that i really liked, and peeked at its price-tag, and nearly took myself out…..RM9X.XX, for a freaking piece of clothing to cover my arse….. oF course my first thought was,"NO FREAKING WAY!" (yes, i’m THAT cheap! sO sue me! X3). bUt after a nudge by a certain female that had just bought a pair of boots, i decided to try buy it anyway…..
iT wasn’t until i reached home that i noticed that all my clothes had one thing in common this year…..
tHey’re all very Bengish……
aNd i also found out what those dangly-stripes are….they’re actually SUSPENDERS!!!! WHOLLY SHIT!!! THE BENG-ness!!!!
sO look out world….this Chinese New Year, you’re up against
AH BENG BLAISE! (or AH BENG HAM!)
sO dung Pray Pray~~~
05 February yOu fLy is oPen……
Daily Mockery
a Few days ago, i heard an interesting sounding while doing my business in the toilet (at home). tWas the sound of a bird seldom heard near my house (though we Do get quite a lot of chirping coming from the small woods behind my house).
i Thought the sound was rather amusing so i immitated it and as a result it called back……
iT’s been a few weeks now, and i could still hear the bird calling just outside my window…….nOw i’m worried about what i actually said to it in its language…….

hAs it bEen tHat lOng sInce?
iT’s really been sometime since i’ve posted anything here. iT’s not that i’m losing my interest blogging, it’s just that i’ve been busy with quite alot of things recently (things like online gaming, some online gaming and more online gaming; dIgging for information for the online game i’m playing……errr….etc….)
aS we enter this time of the year, the streets are lit-up by patches and patches of red. aLmost everywhere you go, you’ll most likely see shops selling tons of Chinese New Year decorations. tHis coming year dawns the year or the Pig. wHich means everyone born in the year of the Pig will either be 12 or 24 or 36 or 48 or 60 or 72 or 96 and if you live long enough, 108.
eVery year around this time, shops, shopping-centres, malls all develope a similar sight……swarms (yes, swarms) of people. eVeryone, regardless of what race, religion you are, will flock to these places and indulge themselves in the seasonal sales. iT has always been like this here in our little town of Kuching. eVeryone wants a piece of the celebration. aN ironic thing about having such a multi-racial community is having kids of races other than Chinese playing fireworks during Sa-Chap-Meh (Chinese New Years Eve). wHich, i personally think, is one of the beauty of our little Kuching.
aNd as if the usual shops weren’t enough, additional stalls are set-up to sell all sorts of new year goodies. iN places such as Tabuan Jaya and Kenyalang, walkways between shops are filled-up with stalls. mOst of them selling items which would seem, almost identicle (nuts, dried squid…).
aNd with these stalls, comes more people. aNd with people, comes more traffic….
iT’s a tradition for us Chinese to new things for the new year. iT symbolise a new begining for all. fOr me, it marks the time i’d buy more than one piece of clothing. i’M actually planning on buying 2 to 3 sets for this year. tHough, i am yet to materialise this plan, and considering all the traffic jams everywhere, it almost seems impossible…… bUt i guess what needs to be done, has to be done……
a Small target i’ve set for myself this year, is to look different this year, and visit as many of my friends as possible.
